Job Summary:
The Financial Investigations Manager leads and conducts investigations into suspected financial fraud, misconduct, irregularities, and violation of university financial policies. This role ensures investigations are thorough, impartial, and compliant with internal policies and federal and state regulations. The manager collaborates with internal departments and external agencies to gather evidence to evaluate the validity of allegations, identify risks and internal control weaknesses, and recommend corrective actions.
Job Related Minimum
Required Education And Experience
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential.
- 5+ years of experience in financial investigations or forensic accounting.
- Master’s degree in related field or advanced training in forensic accounting or fraud investigation.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or equivalent.
- Experience working in higher education.
- Experience with digital forensics or investigative software.
- Strong knowledge of financial systems, auditing standards, and fraud detection techniques.
- Excellent critical thinking, analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or similar). Minimum requirement: strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with grant management regulations (e.g., Uniform Guidance), state ethics laws, and university fiscal policies.
- Conduct and manage investigations into financial fraud, embezzlement, and other financial misconduct. Interview witnesses and subjects and document findings. Prepare comprehensive reports with findings and recommendations.
