Who are we looking for?

Our Water & Wastewater group in Columbia, SC is looking for a Project Engineer to join their team. In this role, you’ll assist with the preparation and refinement of technical reports, design drawings, contract documents, cost estimates, and permits—ensuring all components align with project goals and timelines. You’ll help facilitate client workshops, supporting the presentation of technical advancements and contributing to the seamless flow of project studies and design discussions.

Your responsibilities will include coordinating project delivery strategies and job management plans, working within established QA frameworks to help secure resources, monitor work briefs, and track budgets. You’ll support pricing, estimating, and scoping efforts, and contribute to marketing strategies for new clients and projects. From organizing CAD team efforts to managing the preparation and updates of reports, specifications, construction schedules, and environmental impact studies, your role will be central to keeping projects on track.

You’ll also coordinate field investigations and client communications, ensuring technical and contractual matters are clearly addressed and meetings are effectively managed.

Project Engineer Responsibilities
  • Engineering Standards Specification:
    Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
  • Engineering Inspections:
    Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Process Design Engineering:
    Contribute to the analysis of information and the specification of the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters.
  • Client & Customer Management (External):
    Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.
  • Data Collection and Analysis:
    Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
  • Monitor Construction Works:
    Monitor and oversee the delivery of works to ensure that construction, maintenance, or improvement works are delivered in accordance with quality, cost, and time requirements.
  • Engineering Drawings:
    Create engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions.
  • Engineering Solutions Design:
    Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.
  • Personal Capability Building:
    Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
