Overview
Location: Onsite 5x/week in St George, SC
Duration: 9 month contract to hire
Pay range: $50 - $60/hr
Insight Global is seeking a Commissioning Engineer who will support the startup and commissioning of industrial automation and energy management systems within a data center environment. This role requires hands on experience commissioning Rockwell Automation PLC and SCADA platforms, including Control Logix and Compact Logix systems using Studio 5000 and Factory Talk View. The engineer will be responsible for performing I/O checkout, loop testing, point to point verification, and functional testing of control systems, while validating sequences of operation, alarms, interlocks, and fail safe conditions.
The role will involve troubleshooting PLC logic, SCADA communications, and field devices during system startup. The Commissioning Engineer will work closely with electrical, mechanical, and controls teams to resolve issues, support site acceptance testing, and ensure all automation systems meet reliability, uptime, energy efficiency, and sustainability requirements prior to handover. This position is 5 days a week onsite in St George SC.
- Perform I/O checkout, loop testing, point to point testing, and functional system testing of control systems.
- Validate sequences of operation, alarms, interlocks, and fail safe conditions.
- Troubleshoot PLC logic, SCADA communications, and field devices during system startup.
- Work with electrical, mechanical, and controls teams to resolve issues and support site acceptance testing.
- Ensure automation systems meet reliability, uptime, energy efficiency, and sustainability requirements prior to handover.
- 5+ years of experience as a Commissioning Engineer, Controls Engineer, or Automation Engineer in industrial or mission critical environments
- Strong hands on experience with Rockwell Automation PLCs, including Control Logix and Compact Logix platforms
- Proficiency with Studio 5000 Logix Designer for PLC programming, online troubleshooting, and system commissioning
- Experience commissioning SCADA/HMI systems, including alarm testing, graphics validation, and system communications (Factory Talk View ME/SE or similar)
- Experience performing commissioning activities such as I/O checkout, loop testing, point to point testing, and functional system testing
- Solid understanding of industrial control systems and networking, including Ether Net/IP, electrical schematics, and field device integration
