Job SummaryThis position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications. The role provides environmental and regulatory compliance support for Dominion Energy facilities across the company’s footprint under the direction of Manager, Groundwater, CCR, and Remediation. Focus areas include groundwater monitoring, solid waste compliance, and coal combustion residual (CCR) program compliance.
Job Duties- Support regulatory compliance assurance for Dominion’s environmental groundwater monitoring program (well installations, sampling, laboratory analysis, data validation, and reporting).
- Ensure required groundwater monitoring programs are performed across multiple sites in multiple states in accordance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Analyze groundwater data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for preventative actions.
- Support regulatory compliance assurance for Dominion Energy’s CCR program (technical report generation, inspections, surveys, operating record maintenance, and reporting).
- Provide technical assistance for groundwater, solid waste, and CCR compliance at sites/projects.
- Interpret environmental permits and regulations to ensure compliance dates and requirements are met.
- Prepare compliance tools and conduct training as requested.
- Write and edit reports related to environmental programs.
- Coordinate with regulatory agency representatives, negotiate permit conditions, represent Dominion Energy during regulatory inspections, and other regulatory meetings.
- Manage oversight, tracking, and assignment of compliance tasks for multiple facilities/projects.
- Manage oversight and technical direction of contractors and consultants (scopes of work, purchase requisitions, invoice approval).
- Represent the company before regulatory agencies, industry groups, and the public on environmental issues.
- Adhere to Dominion Energy environmental policy, guidance, and work practices.
- Adhere to Dominion Energy safety rules and safety performance expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Environmental Specialist II: 2-3+ years directly related experience (master’s degree counts as one year of experience).
Environmental Specialist III: 5-7 years directly related experience (master’s degree counts as one year of experience).
- Understanding and application of hydrogeologic concepts and principles.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations related to groundwater (CCR, RCRA, CERCLA, NPDES, petroleum programs).
- Regulatory agency or program representation experience (plus).
- Field work experience (groundwater well installations, sampling, investigations, remediation) (plus).
- Experience overseeing consultants (plus).
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and deadline‑management skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication; teamwork skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office and electronic record management systems.
- Strong analytical, logical, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
- Ability to work in both office and industrial sites.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or Engineering (preferred). Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
Working ConditionsOffice work (76–100%). Travel up to 25%.
