Overview

As a Lead Supplier Performance Engineer, you will be accountable for global supplier performance, risk management, and delivery assurance in direct support of fuel delivery commitments for one of the business unit's most critical customers. You will set direction, establish priorities, and ensure execution excellence across a portfolio of suppliers and projects with care for contractual requirements. You will be the technical and execution authority for supplier performance, overseeing complex manufacturing and quality challenges, shaping supplier strategies, and directly influencing customer outcomes.

The role partners with Fuel Delivery, Contract Management, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain leadership, while maintaining a hands‑on presence where risk or complexity demands direct engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Model strong Nuclear Safety Culture behaviors and conduct effective safety briefings. Use Human Performance (HuP) tools in these interactions.
  • Provide day‑to‑day technical support to fuel delivery and project teams, ensuring supplier performance aligns with contract, schedule, and customer requirements.
  • Lead supplier qualification, development, and oversight activities, including technical assessments of manufacturing capability, capacity, process controls, and supply chain risk. Execute onsite and remote oversight to validate performance and drive improvement.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate supplier risks affecting quality, schedule, and security of supply. Support make/buy decisions and mitigation strategies using manufacturing and process expertise.
  • Provide technical leadership for quality events, corrective actions, and root cause analyses. Support escalation, resolution, and verification of effective preventive actions for significant issues.
  • Serve as a technical authority for complex supplier and quality issues; support customer, executive, and cross‑functional discussions with clear, accurate, and confident technical communications.
  • Verify and peer‑review qualification and oversight plans and reports for technical rigor, consistency, and effectiveness. Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools, and oversight methods using lessons learned and operating experience.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and on‑the‑job training support for SPE team members. Share best practices and lessons learned and maintain regular touchpoints to support execution and technical development.
  • Produce high‑quality qualification and oversight reports, maintain supplier scorecards, and manage supplier quality records (NCRs/SCARs) in SAP.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required
  • Master's degree or demonstrated equivalent technical expertise preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering, manufacturing, quality, or operations experience
  • Experience mentoring and technically leading teams of engineers in the execution of complex, cross‑functional work
  • Demonstrated depth in nuclear products, manufacturing processes and capabilities, quality programs, and operational excellence, applied to strengthen customer and supplier relationships
  • Experience in engineering, manufacturing, quality programs, or operational excellence
  • Recognized subject matter expert in one or more manufacturing or operational excellence disciplines
  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality Plans
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Nuclear industry experience and familiarity with NQA‑1 standards strongly desired

Salary Range: $116,800 to $146,000 per year. Base salary depends upon experience, qualifications and skills.
