Industrial Engineer located in Columbia SC
Responsibilities- Support extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to growth by increasing productivity through management of workers, methods of business organization, and technology to solve organizational, production, and related problems efficiently.
- Provide process time estimation to the quote team.
- Simulate process, materials and manufacturing workflow and give input to process engineers using REFA, MOST, WITNESS and adequate tools.
- During NPI coordinate process planning and setup with respect to takt, cycle time and direct labor requirements.
- Review results during prototyping and trial runs and provide feedback to NPI and sales teams.
- Work measurement programs and examine work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
- Examine staff utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to define efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
- Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchasing equipment.
- Conference with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
- May develop management systems for cost reviews, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation.
- Develop management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost reviews, and design production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality.
- Design or improve systems for the physical distribution of goods and services, as well as defining the most efficient plant locations.
- Manage and support initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost and improve performance in constrained areas like Lean, Automation and/or Six Sigma projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 6-8 years’ experience in Manufacturing Industry
- Proficient with design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Solid Works)
- Travel nationally and internationally (up to 50% project dependent)
- Experience in medical device manufacturing or a related field is highly desirable.
