Saint Joseph Catholic School, located in Columbia, South Carolina, is accepting applications for a qualified Music teacher for the school year. The
responsibilities of the position include the following: developing dynamic lessons; developing class projects and activities for K4–6th grade students that fulfill and exceed
the South Carolina and Diocesan academic standards; planning and directing a Christmas program and a spring program. The position will oversee the planning of weekly Mass
music. Applicants should have an understanding of the Catholic faith and be able to incorporate lessons that uphold and build upon the school’s mission. Preferred applicants will have
piano-playing experience and knowledge of other musical instruments. All applicants must hold a current South Carolina license or equivalent licenses.
The Elementary Music Teacher, under the supervision of the School Administration, provides music instruction for K4–6th-grade students and leads major school performances. The teacher
supports the school’s mission by delivering standards‑aligned lessons, preparing music for weekly Mass, and fostering a joyful, faith‑filled learning environment.
- Teach music to K4–6th grade students using South Carolina and Diocesan standards
- Plan and direct the Christmas and spring music programs
- Prepare and coordinate music for weekly school Mass
- Teach foundational music skills and appreciation
- Integrate Catholic values and liturgical seasons into lessons
- Maintain an organized, engaging classroom environment
- Communicate effectively with families and staff
- Maintain confidentiality
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal
- Assist with school liturgies and events requiring music
- Participate in professional development and faculty meetings
Receives supervision from the principal.
Licenses Required- Current South Carolina teaching license or equivalent
Position may be part‑time or full‑time
