As a Part‑Time Visiting Professor, you will inspire motivated students, provide clinical instruction, and contribute to program development while enjoying a flexible schedule and support from the university.
Scheduling- Schedule is determined based on the course need and the clinical specialty for each 8‑week session.
- Typically, clinical instructors are scheduled for non‑consecutive 12‑hour shifts.
- Additional dates may not be available, and clinical dates are not guaranteed for every session.
- Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching.
- Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
- Plan clinical experiences, supervise and evaluate nursing students delivering care.
- Make self‑available to staff at the agencies.
- Provide documented feedback to students on performance based on course objectives.
- Remediate students as required.
- Maintain current knowledge of agency/clinical policies with assistance from personnel.
- Develop and post written clinical assignments that align with student knowledge, skill, and learning needs.
- Correct and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work promptly.
- Contribute to ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of the program and the College.
- May teach didactic course content under supervision of the course coordinator.
- Keep the course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.
- Work with college administration, staff, and faculty to improve overall operations and student satisfaction.
- Participate in implementation of the College Assessment Program, campus retention efforts, and both departmental and campus policies.
- Serve as a professional role model for faculty, staff, and students in customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, dress, attendance, and general professionalism.
- Utilize relationship skills in situations requiring group problem‑solving, consensus building, and win‑win negotiation.
- Comply with all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
- Report to the dean or assistant dean; a course coordinator will also provide oversight.
- Handle related duties as assigned.
- Master's Degree in Nursing required.
- An unencumbered professional nursing license in South Carolina required.
- Illinois RN License required to teach all courses (prioritizes professors currently licensed in Illinois).
- Active BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network).
- 2+ years of nursing practice experience within the last five years (required).
- Excellent communication skills with a high level of initiative and prudent judgment.
In support of pay transparency laws, the expected compensation rate for this position is between $1,120 and $7,245 per assignment, depending on education and experience. Actual pay may be adjusted based on job‑related factors such as course type, location, licensure, certifications, market factors, departmental budgets, and responsibilities.
