Overview
Location: This position is full-time (40-hours/week) Monday-Friday in a typical office environment. This role is onsite at 51 Clemson Rd. Columbia, SC.
Position
Purpose:
The Workforce Development Specialist designs and delivers learning programs that improve workforce performance. The role identifies training needs through gap analysis and partners with customer groups to implement effective learning solutions.
What You ll Do:
- Lead projects related to learning and training program design, development, and implementation for internal and external clients. Assess training needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, or consultations with managers, instructors, or customer representatives. Evaluate instructional objectives and course content and select appropriate delivery methods to maximize subject-matter mastery and skill development.
- Design training to support departments by developing, planning, and maintaining course materials such as instructor manuals, participant guides, e-learning modules, train-the-trainer materials, job aids, evaluations, and tests. Create content and apply design principles to educational materials for traditional and blended learning. Develop competency models and career paths to support organizational needs.
- Facilitate training programs to improve job skills and support departmental initiatives. Present information using a variety of instructional techniques and formats, including role-playing, simulations, team exercises, e-learning, group discussions, videos, and lectures. Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and instructors.
- Teach training skills to other instructors and management. Serve as a subject matter expert to departments and staff on training development.
To Qualify For This Position, You ll Need The Following:

Education:
Bachelor s in a job-related field - Degree Equivalency: 4 years of job-related work experience, or an Associate s degree and 2 years of job-related work experience
- Required
Work Experience:
8 years in design, development, implementation and evaluation of adult learning and development programs, preferably in an insurance or service environment. - Required
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated leadership. Strong organizational, time management, prioritization, conceptual, and planning skills. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, independently and with groups. Strong knowledge of needs assessment techniques. General knowledge of methods for reporting statistics. Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle ambiguities. Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques across written, oral, and visual media. - Required Software and Other Tools: Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems.
We Prefer That You Have The Following:
- Preferred Education: Master s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- Preferred Licenses and Certificates: Development Dimensions International (DDI) Facilitator Certification;
Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP).
Work Environment: Typical office environment. Some travel may be required.
