Overview
Galen Health Fellows Living and Learning Community Program Lead.
Location:
Columbia, SC. Department: SAAS Galen Health Fellows LLC. This role leads educational programs, co-curricular initiatives, and community development for the Galen Health Fellows LLC in Patterson Hall.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Co-instruct University 290 during each spring semester;
Assist faculty director in reviewing applications for Galen mini-Magellan research grant;
Contribute to regular strategic planning and implementation efforts that align with LLC goals and Galen Pillars;
Assist faculty director in identifying and contacting local clinicians, advocates, or other professionals to speak in Galen’s ‘Supper Speaker’ series
Job Duties: Programming
- In conjunction with the Faculty Director, develop a programming calendar with events that support the LLC goals and that complies with Faculty Director programming expectations
- Plan the logistics of LLC programs
- In conjunction with the Faculty Director, attend programs
- Track attendance tracking at programs and events
- Assess program effectiveness
Administrative Operations
- Manage reservable spaces
- Submit facility maintenance requests
- Monitor spending and stay within budget guidelines
- Communicate with LLC students, staff, and departments across the university
- Participate in the LLC applicant and selection process
- Provide Marketing and communication support, in coordination with SAAS Communications, such as social media, website updates, and recruitment materials
Support Galen Health
- Serve as primary department individual in charge of data collection, cleaning, analysis and visualization
- Co-instruct University 290 during each spring semester
- Assist faculty director in reviewing applications for Galen mini-Magellan research grant
- Contribute to regular strategic planning and implementation efforts that align with LLC goals and Galen Pillars
- Assist faculty director in identifying and contacting local clinicians, advocates, or other professionals to speak in Galen’s Supper Speaker series
Academic Progress & High Impact Practices
- Coordinate linked courses (Common University 101 courses; two courses taken by the same group of students)
- Monitor academic progress and make referrals to the Student Success Center when needed
- Coordinate high impact activity logistics such as study abroad, undergraduate research, and service learning (as applicable)
Supervision
- Supervise the graduate student, student workers, and, if applicable, student leaders/ambassadors
- Schedule employees
- Communicate the work that employees need to complete
- Provide critical and encouraging feedback
LLC Recruitment
- Staff fall and spring Admissions events
- Meet with students and parents during orientation
- Communicate with community members prior to arrival on campus
Procurement
- Identify the item(s) to be purchased
- Solicit quotes if required
- Work with SAAS Finance team for any purchases

QualificationsJob Related Minimum Required Education And Experience: Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree and 2 years. Experience working with college students in and outside of the classroom. Direct experience working with college students in and outside the classroom; experience with leadership initiatives and event management and programming for students and community members.…
