To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.

• Teach District approved curriculum.
• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals--establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
• Diagnose learning disabilities of students.
• Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
• Be available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day.

Supervise classroom and students.

Bachelor of Arts degree.

Valid South Carolina Secondary Teaching Certificate in the appropriate area(s).

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication.

Frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. May be required to lift up to 25–50 lbs.

Noise level moderate to loud. Duties performed indoors and occasionally outdoors.
