Responsible for planning instruction and/or adaptation of the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Instructs individuals and groups in special education skill areas.
- Plans curriculum, lessons, and special ED programs and teaching methods.
- Evaluates student progress based on papers submitted, test scores, and observation.
- Monitors student progress in and outside the special ED room.
- Maintains the physical environment of the classroom.
- Maintains contact with parents of students.
- Determines goals, objectives, and directives based on work output and observation.
- Prepares report cards, educational records, IEPC forms, classroom observation records, and other forms.
Supervises students.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in education.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSTeaching certificate with Intellectual Disabilities or Multicategorical special education endorsement.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHERSKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSFrequent walking and standing. Frequent bending or twisting at the neck and back. Specific vision abilities require peripheral vision and close vision to read typewritten material. From time to time may be required to lift significant amounts up to and exceeding 25 lbs, including students and equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENTNoise level is typically moderate to loud. Frequently interacting with public and staff. Directly responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of students.
