Instructor of Computer Science – Job Summary
The University of South Carolina Union invites applications for a 9‑month, full‑time Instructor of Computer Science. The role requires teaching both face‑to‑face and distance classrooms, including evening or weekend sections, and may include dual‑enrollment courses at USC Union campus, USC Union Laurens, or local high schools. The instructor will teach five courses per semester and is expected to support undergraduate education, participate in community service, and contribute to campus governance.
Responsibilities- Teach assigned courses under the supervision of the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, helping students master course content and assessing learning outcomes.
- Deliver five courses each semester.
- Advising students, maintaining current expertise in the teaching field, pursuing professional development, using technology in instruction, upholding professional conduct, and serving on college committees and student activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, with at least 18 graduate hours in Computer Science from an accredited university.
- Credentialed to teach introductory and upper‑level Computer Science courses as needed.
- Demonstrated commitment to exceptional teaching and engagement with campus and local community.
- Excellent communication skills and dedication to undergraduate education.
