Midlands Technical College is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Adjunct Instructor to teach the Seasonal Wreath Workshop within the Creative Careers program area of Corporate and Continuing Education. This six-session, hands‑on course introduces participants to the art of designing and crafting decorative wreaths for various seasons and occasions. The instructor will guide students in developing creative techniques and skills to produce professional‑quality home décor pieces.
Responsibilities- Deliver engaging, in‑person instruction focused on wreath design and creation using materials such as Deco mesh, grapevine, and floral elements.
- Demonstrate techniques for making bows, swags, and themed arrangements for holidays and special occasions.
- Develop and distribute material and supply lists prior to each class session.
- Provide hands‑on assistance and individualized feedback to participants of all experience levels.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and creative workshop environment.
- Coordinate with the Program Coordinator regarding scheduling, materials, and student evaluations.
- Encourage student engagement through demonstrations, discussion, and a final showcase of completed wreaths.
This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Harbison Campus.
Qualifications- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in wreath making, floral design, or related decorative arts.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and instruct individuals or small groups. >
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency in using standard wreath‑making tools and materials (e.g., hot glue guns, wire cutters, floral wire, ribbon).
Experience teaching, coaching, or training adults in a classroom, workshop, or craft setting. Entrepreneurial or small‑business experience selling handmade or decorative crafts. Ability to foster an inclusive and encouraging learning environment for diverse participants.
