Job Title: Student Employee – Peer Educator
Location: USC Upstate, Spartanburg, SC
Salary: $10-12/hour (Part/Full Time – 8 hours per week)
Job SummaryA peer educator provides education and support to their peers on a specific topic. Connect & Protect Peer Educators focus their efforts on the issues of Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking (DVDVSAS). Peer Educators are students helping other students promote change on campus.
Responsibilities- Become a NASPA-certified Peer Educator.
- Complete training on DVDVSAS prevention best practices.
- Co-facilitate Bystander Intervention and/or Healthy Relationships presentations to University 101 classes and student organizations.
- Plan and implement events, tabling, and programs during 3 awareness months.
- Help create an inclusive, safe campus environment where survivors receive quality services and offenders are held accountable.
- Enhance your communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to ending DVDVSAS, recognizing intersectionality, and inclusion of underserved populations (men, students with disabilities, LGBTQ+ students, and students from immigrant communities).
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Interest in learning more about DVDVSAS issues.
- Readiness to model bystander intervention and healthy relationship behaviors to your peers.
- Ability to be a Peer Educator for at least two semesters.
- GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Ability to work up to 8 hours a week.
