Job Summary
Job Title: PAES Lab Instructional Assistant
Reports to: Principal
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Contract Days: 182 days
Facilitates the implementation of the Practical Assessment Exploration System Lab for students with disabilities. The PAES Lab operates as a simulated work environment where students become employees working with real-life items from various career vocational areas.
Qualifications- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and one of the following three requirements
- At least two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education; or
- An associate’s degree (or higher); or,
- An approved State or local academic assessment (TABE) that measures the paraprofessional’s knowledge of and ability to assist in instruction of the following subjects at the appropriate level, i.e.;

- Demonstrates understanding of students’ needs and strengths and is respectful towards those students and their needs
- Demonstrates initiative with students
- Communicates concerns and praises with teachers, and Principal
- Implements, manages, and maintains the PAES Lab curriculum
- Documents student progress using PAES Lab data/documentation forms
- Maintains inventory of PAES materials; requests needs via district guidelines for requesting PAES materials
- Implements necessary accommodations for students based on their IEP
- Develops and communicates a daily schedule to Principal and/or teacher
- Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes
- Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, pay periods, and field trips
- Keep bulletin boards and other classroom learning displays up to date
- Checks and records student attendance
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers
- Participants in in-service training programs, as assigned
- Other duties as assigned by the buildling level administration
