Waccamaw Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. (WEOC) is seeking an experienced and motivated Head Start Center Supervisor to lead operations at our Longs Head Start Center. This leadership role is ideal for a dedicated early childhood professional who is passionate about high-quality education, staff development, and community impact.
Job SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Education Manager, the Center Supervisor plans, coordinates, supervises, and evaluates all center activities, including classrooms, outdoor learning, and field trips. This position directly supervises teaching and classroom staff and ensures compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, safety regulations, and program policies.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and evaluate classroom staff, volunteers, and daily center operations.
- Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, health, and safety regulations.
- Conduct classroom observations and annual performance evaluations.
- Support curriculum development and program training initiatives.
- Coordinate center activities, field trips, and special events.
- Maintain accurate records, monitoring documentation, and program files.
- Support staff professional development and morale.
- Assist with requisitioning supplies, equipment, and program materials.
- Input and maintain educational assessments and data.
- Attend required trainings, workshops, and meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, or related field with equivalent coursework.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience overseeing 5 or more staff.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to attend overnight meetings and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must pass background checks (SLED/FBI), drug screening, Central Registry clearance, and required health screenings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
- 3+ years of experience working with low-income preschool children.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience (10+ staff).
- Knowledge of Head Start regulations and guidelines.
