Job Summary

The Department of Psychology in the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences at the University of South Carolina (USC) invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor of Clinical Psychology in the area of genetically informed research into psychotic disorders and cognition. The Department seeks candidates who explore dynamic gene-environment interplay processes that contribute to developmental differentiation in psychological traits, and have a particular focus on the heterogeneity in the etiology, course, and sequelae of psychopathology.

The Clinical-Community Psychology PhD Concentration at USC includes 18 tenured or tenure track faculty and four clinical faculty, with a wide range of extramural grant funding from federal, state, and foundation sources. The successful candidate will be joining a highly collegial and supportive professional network of high impact scholars. Faculty in the Clinical-Community Psychology Concentration also work closely with faculty and students from the three other concentrations:
Quantitative, Cognitive and Neural Science, and School Psychology concentrations.

Required Education And Experience

The position requires a Ph.D. in clinical psychology or a related field, and a demonstrated record of high impact research productivity, leadership experience in the field of psychology, and excellence in teaching. Preference will be given to faculty who have graduated from an APA accredited program in Clinical Psychology. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and multicultural humility in an educational and work environment.

The successful candidate will be expected to pursue external grants to support their research and to contribute to the academic mission of the Department of Psychology and the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences, through undergraduate and graduate teaching, including courses closely related to clinical psychology (including developmental psychopathology, severe mental illness), statistical methods, behavioral genetics, and the bioethical challenges facing behavioral and psychiatric genetics.
