The faculty of the Department of Sociology at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for a 9‑month, full‑time, tenure‑track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 16, 2026. The position focuses on socially informed artificial intelligence and/or data science, with a broad range of methodological orientations encouraged. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain an active program of research, teach, contribute to departmental service, and mentor graduate students in our Ph.D. program.

Education and Experience:
- Applicants must have a PhD degree in sociology or a closely related field by the start date of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in socially informed artificial intelligence and/or data science.
- Experience with a broad spectrum of methodological orientations.
- Demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary research, teaching, and service.
