Job TitleABA Therapist
Preferred QualificationsSuccessful experience working directly with children with autism and related developmental delays in a home, school, or clinical setting. Is versed in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and has certification as a Registered Behavior Technician.
Required QualificationsApplicants must meet one of the following: possess an associate’s degree from an accredited college; or have earned 60 semester hours (or equivalent) from an accredited college; or have GED or high school diploma and a passing score on the Para Pro test prior to employment. Must also have initiative, knowledge and understanding of adolescent‑age students, the ability and willingness to collaborate with others, the ability to handle unforeseen situations in accordance with policy, and the ability to accept individual differences among students.
Must be willing and able to obtain ABA certification.
Under occasional supervision and through administrative and certified teacher support, provide skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with autism and related developmental delays in a school setting.

Performance Responsibilities- Provide skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.
- Assist in providing a well‑organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment.
- Perform specialized work by assisting teachers in instructing and directing student activities.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with certified teachers, parents, and administration.
- Remain knowledgeable about individual student needs and success plans.
- Work individually with students needing academic or behavior interventions.
- Work in small groups on classroom activities under the supervision of the teacher.
- Participate in staff development and training to learn and update skills related to the position.
- Assist administration and staff with various administrative and clerical functions as requested.
Requires light work that involves walking, bending, or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations. Must have ability to physically restrain a student if called upon to do so after proper training. May also be required to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
Terms of Employment185 days on Classified Salary Schedule Grade 11 or higher based on education, skills, and experience.
EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of the Board’s Policy.
