Shift Schedule- Standard Day Shift: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (two providers)
- On‑Call / After‑Hours Coverage: 3:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. (one provider)
- Coverage required 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, including nights, weekends, and federal holidays
- On‑call providers must be available by phone within 15 minutes and onsite within 60 minutes when required
Shifts are scheduled to support continuous 24/7 coverage throughout the year; monthly shift distribution will be coordinated based on VA surgical volume and staffing needs
License- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology (American Board of Anesthesiology)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Minimum of 2–3 years of recent clinical experience in anesthesiology (post‑residency), including experience in acute care and surgical settings
Special Skills Needed- Proficiency in providing anesthesia services for a wide range of surgical procedures, including cardiac, orthopedic, vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, ENT, urologic, ophthalmologic, and general surgery
- Experience with anesthesia support for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (e.g., cardiac catheterization lab, GI, radiology suites, electroconvulsive therapy)
- Competency in emergency airway management, acute and chronic pain management, and ICU anesthesia support
- Ability to work independently during on‑call and after‑hours coverage
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
6 weeks to 8 weeks
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive anesthesiology services in the operating room, clinic, procedural areas, and inpatient settings
- Perform pre‑anesthesia evaluations, intraoperative anesthesia management, and post‑anesthesia care
- Provide anesthesia coverage for scheduled and emergent surgical and procedural cases
- Participate in on‑call coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Deliver anesthesia services in accordance with ASA guidelines, VA policies, and nationally recognized standards of care
- Document all patient care accurately and timely in the VA electronic health record system
- Participate in quality assurance, quality improvement activities, and required staff or service meetings
- Coordinate care with surgeons, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers to ensure continuity and patient safety
- Comply with all VA privacy, HIPAA, infection control, and mandatory training requirements
- This is a non‑personal services position; providers are not considered VA employees
- Federal holidays are observed as defined by the VA, with coverage required as scheduled
