SchedulePart‑time candidate:
Monday–Thursday, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm;
Friday, 7:30 am – 12:00 pm.
Full‑time opportunities may be considered for an exceptional candidate.
Position PurposeThe Circulator supports the surgical team by coordinating all aspects of patient care and surgical preparation to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality procedures. Responsibilities include preparing surgical rooms, assisting with patient flow, monitoring vitals, maintaining sterile technique, and ensuring all instruments, supplies, and documentation are accurate and ready for use. The Circulator also maintains compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards while fostering a positive and professional experience for every patient.
EssentialFunctions
- Seat, prep, recover, and release patients for/from surgery.
- Set up rooms and trays for surgery.
- Take panoramic, periapical, and 3D dental X‑rays.
- Take impressions and intraoral scans.
- Complete operative reports accurately.
- Make and stock clinical supplies.
- Explain postoperative care to patients.
- Sterilize surgical equipment.
- Check all documents for accuracy.
- Facilitate communication between patient and doctor.
- Act as substitute for the doctor’s surgical assistants as needed.
- Strictly adhere to PPE, OSHA regulations, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent — required.
- CPR/BLS certification — required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) — preferred; may be required depending on protocols.
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) — preferred.
- Infection control and OSHA training — required and must be maintained.
- Minimum 1–2 years in a surgical, dental, or oral surgery clinical setting — preferred.
- Experience assisting with pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative patient care.
- Proficiency in maintaining sterile fields and aseptic technique.
- Ability to set up and turnover surgical rooms, including instrument and tray preparation and sterilization.
- Experience monitoring patient vitals during sedation or anesthesia and recognizing changes.
- Familiarity with dental radiographs and digital imaging systems.
- Coordinating with surgeons, assistants, and recovery staff to ensure efficient surgical flow.
- Strong understanding of OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and operative report documentation — preferred.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards.
- Prepare and maintain surgical rooms, instruments, and supplies efficiently.
- Accurately document operative reports and patient information.
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients and team members.
- Monitor vitals and anticipate provider needs during procedures.
- Adapt to various clinical roles and support team operations as needed.
- Stay organized and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
