Summary:

We have a job opening for the position of Accounting Business Unit Student (Year-Round) Intern at Palmetto GBA, a subsidiary of Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina. The Intern position is used for training an active high school or college student toward an entry level role. The incumbent will work under direct supervision and will be responsible for performing entry-level tasks and for learning professional-level tasks relating to area operations.

Location and logistics:
This is a part-time internship (year-round) 20–24 hours per week, Monday–Friday (flexible schedule), on-site at 17 Technology Circle, Columbia SC 29203, in an office environment.

• Intern position utilized for training an active high school or college student toward an entry-role. Responsibilities vary based on area needs and incumbent experience. The incumbent works under direct supervision and performs entry-level tasks while learning professional-level tasks related to area operations. May assist with the implementation of various activities and programs for assigned business units within the organization.
• Participates in business unit/department training designed to help this position acquire applicable knowledge/skills in their area of study. Completes area tasks that promote learning of departmental procedures and application of industry/field best practices. May communicate with other areas of the company. May conduct research and analysis of various reports (monthly, quarterly, annually).
• Performs tasks that support learning about the business area and provides an overall view of company operations. Assists other staff with everyday tasks to gain understanding of business operations and workflow.
• Completes other assigned area-related tasks. May identify areas for improvement and communicates to management.

  High School Diploma or equivalent
• Required Specialized Training:
  Must have a minimum of 12 semester hours in the field(s) specified by the hiring area and must be currently enrolled in college and working toward at least a 4-year degree in the field(s) specified by the hiring area. (Please upload a copy of your unofficial transcripts with resume.)
