This confidential search targets a proven growth leader with deep experience driving large-scale, strategic business development initiatives, particularly across the Public Sector.
This role is responsible for building a robust pipeline of new business opportunities, shaping high-value pursuits, developing long-term executive relationships, and guiding cross-functional teams through complex sales cycles. The ideal candidate brings a consultative, strategic, and highly influential presence with a proven ability to win large, transformative engagements.
Position OverviewThe Business Development Executive will lead end-to-end growth efforts across a designated territory or sector, with accountability for pipeline creation, executive engagement, opportunity qualification, and pursuit leadership. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to CXO-level stakeholders and will play a pivotal role in positioning the organization for long-term success in competitive, high-stakes environments.
This is a role for a seasoned hunter who thrives in complex stakeholder landscapes and can orchestrate diverse teams to deliver differentiated proposals and compelling win strategies.
Key ResponsibilitiesPipeline Growth & Opportunity Development
Build and manage a strong, qualified pipeline of new business opportunities, consistently meeting or exceeding revenue and growth targets.
Identify, qualify, and shape large, strategic opportunities with complex stakeholder maps.
Conduct early and effective qualification to ensure optimal use of organizational resources.
Create, cultivate, and maintain enduring relationships with CXO-level leaders and decision-makers.
Identify and develop strong relationships with “deal coaches” who can influence strategic outcomes.
Serve as a trusted advisor who can articulate business value, transformation opportunities, and strategic alignment.
Develop tailored Business Development plans for each target territory or scope.
Lead and assemble cross-functional pursuit teams to showcase organizational capabilities and differentiation.
Understand competitive dynamics and build strategies that clearly outperform the competition.
Leverage best-practice methodologies (e.g., Price2
Win, Blue Sheets, Deal Health Checks, Deal Clinics) to shape winning proposals.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of client objectives, industry landscape, and competitor positioning.
Articulate customer needs at the executive level and align solutions that directly address their strategic challenges.
Establish a viewpoint on industry trends and adjacent sectors to influence deal shaping and broader market positioning.
Collaborate early with internal executives to secure alignment and support for bold, high-impact plays.
Manage internal stakeholders across Industry, GBU, and Group leadership to ensure cohesive pursuit execution.
Inspire, motivate, and lead high-performing teams; foster a strong, winning culture throughout the deal process.
Contribute to the evolution of sales excellence, best practices, and innovative business development methodologies.
Extensive experience in strategic Business Development, with a track record of winning large, complex deals—preferably within the Public Sector.
Proven success developing net new business and leading sophisticated, multi-stakeholder pursuits.
Strong executive presence with the ability to influence CXO-level decision-making.
Demonstrated leadership in orchestrating cross-functional, high-performing teams.
Consultative, strategic mindset with the ability to shape opportunities from early-stage through close.
High integrity, strong communication skills, and a results-driven, entrepreneurial approach.
Ability to manage time effectively and lead across global teams.
Domestic travel required; limited international travel may be needed.
