Business Coordinator – South Carolina Honors College
Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Finance and HR Director, the Business Coordinator manages and coordinates financial and administrative operations for the South Carolina Honors College. This role oversees vendor payments, reimbursements, travel processing, supplier registration, and purchasing card reconciliation while ensuring compliance with university and state policies. The Business Coordinator serves as a key resource to faculty, staff, students, vendors, and campus partners by providing accurate financial processing, maintaining fiscal accountability, and delivering exceptional customer service in support of the college’s mission.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee vendor payments, reimbursements, and travel processing; manage the SCHC Publix card checkout process.
- Process vendor invoices from Michaels, Enterprise, Verizon, and other suppliers; serve as primary point of contact for vendor registration in People Soft and Paper Save.
- Monitor and reconcile transactions through the USC online financial platform, following account and budgeting principles including USC platforms.
- Process travel authorizations and reimbursements for faculty, staff, and students; assist with booking airfare and registration payments.
- Serve as the Office Supply Liaison; ensure compliance with purchasing card guidelines and reconcile monthly statements.
- Provide financial and administrative support to the Dean’s Office as needed to meet deadlines.
- Deliver responsive customer service to faculty, staff, students, vendors, and campus partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field; prior work experience is not required and can be substituted with an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, or experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting and budgeting principles, including USC platforms.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel; knowledge of Access also preferred.
- Excellent clerical, computer, and technical skills with a customer‑service orientation.
- Ability to work independently with confidentiality, professional judgment, and discretion; ability to work as a team member.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of MS Office with emphasis on Excel.
- Some knowledge of USC policies, procedures, and programs.
Full Time – Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., one hour for lunch (37.5 hours per week). Flexibility may be required to meet department needs.
