Job Summary

The Financial Aid Coordinator – Loans serves as a member of the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships (OSFAS) Student Loan Unit. The position works with a team to administer Federal Direct Subsidized, Unsubsidized, Parent PLUS and Graduate PLUS Loans, along with Private Educational Loans. Responsibilities include general loan administration, reviewing COD reports, disbursement reports, one‑term loan processing, and assisting in general federal financial aid application review and processing including professional judgment and eligibility review.

The coordinator also assists with student advisement services during peak times.

Job Related Minimum Required

Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job-related field and at least 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in financial aid program administration, analytical and complex processing capabilities, and accounting experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work with and maintain the confidentiality of records.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize work, and communicate thoroughly and accurately with diverse populations, colleagues, and external agencies.
  • Ability to make independent yet accurate judgments.
  • Successful candidate will learn and maintain a working knowledge of the DL programs, COD system requirements, responsibilities, and associated University financial aid policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to work independently within a highly integrated team that prioritizes service and responsible administration.
Job Duties (Percentage of Time)
  • 40% – Assists with the administration of Federal Direct Student Loan Programs.
  • 30% – Assists with the administration of state and Private Educational Loan Programs.
  • 15% – Participates in federal financial aid application review and processing, including professional judgment and eligibility review.
  • 10% – Assists students, parents, and other constituents via financial aid advisement during peak times.
  • 5% – Performs other office duties as needed.
