Working closely with design and tooling teams, you will provide critical manufacturability feedback during design reviews and lead efforts in automation integration and rapid prototyping. Responsibilities- Function as R&D process development lead, supporting rapid prototyping, proof of concept, and pilot manufacturing runs to accelerate innovation.
- Apply Design For Manufacture (DFM) principles to redesign parts and assemblies for improved manufacturability and cost efficiency.
- Assess product readiness for manufacturing and establish early plans for transition to production.
- Reengineer manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment to increase production capacity and quality.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, tooling, and engineering teams to provide process and manufacturability feedback during product development.
- Integrate automation and advanced manufacturing technologies to optimize throughput and operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing process documentation including BOMs, process flows, and work instructions.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to improve yield and reduce defects.
- Mentor and guide manufacturing engineers, fostering technical growth and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure timely delivery and quality compliance.
- Support the scaling of innovative aerospace manufacturing processes across multi-site operations.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering and manufacturing roles in aerospace, automotive, or advanced manufacturing
- Strong expertise in Design For Manufacture (DFM) and concurrent engineering principles for complex parts and assemblies.
- Proven experience redesigning engineered components and processes to improve manufacturability and production scalability.
- Experience working cross-functionally with design and tooling teams to provide manufacturability and process feedback during design and development reviews.
- Hands-on knowledge of advanced manufacturing methods, including CNC machining, additive manufacturing (3D printing), molding, casting, welding (MIG, TIG, laser), laser cutting, and water jet cutting.
- Skilled at reengineering manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment, with an emphasis on automation integration to increase manufacturing capacity.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as Catia, Solid Works, or equivalent design and prototyping support.
- Familiarity with CAM software and digital collaboration platforms.
- Ability to manage production documentation, work with suppliers and contract manufacturers, and ensure quality standards.
- Leadership and mentoring ability to support and develop manufacturing engineers within the team and across the organization.
- Excellent collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in aerospace or advanced technology manufacturing sectors.
- Strong understanding of materials science, mechanical systems, and precision manufacturing processes.
- Background in rapid prototyping, proof of concept development, and scaling novel technologies.
- Familiarity with automation systems, robotics, and manufacturing process controls.
- Experience supporting multi-site and international manufacturing operations.
- Ability to work in and around shop environments using appropriate PPE
- Ability to be on your feet for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Office work with computer usage for project planning, reporting, and communication
$100,000 - $150,000 a year
