Overview
The Operations Manager will oversee the daily operation of the Distribution and Logistics departments within the branch. The OM ensures smooth operation of the planning, implementation, and control of the flow of goods and services from origin to consumption.
Responsibilities- Manage the overall operations of the facility including supervising team members, monitoring expenses and overseeing P&L functions.
- Create and ensure a safe workplace and promote a culture of safety for the facility.
- Partner with internal leadership team (Sales, Purchasing, Customer Service, Logistics) to maximize profitability, efficiency and to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Lead and manage warehouse department processes and practices to ensure programs are aligned with company goals and objectives.
- Define and plan with the Operations Director to develop strategic and long-range goals and optimize resource use.
- Establish operational standards for cost control, safety and on-time delivery.
- Build a strong group of employees.
- Analyze and propose methods of sustained productivity increases.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and organized warehouse.
- Ensure safe working conditions and train employees on safety procedures.
- Counsel and manage employees on attendance, performance and/or misconduct.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local regulatory guidelines including OSHA standards and DOT regulations.
- Oversee the Transportation Department.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management or related field preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 10+ years of demonstrated management experience in warehouse operations required.
- Strong knowledge of logistics and operational processes.
- Knowledge of local, state and federal OSHA safety and FMCR regulations.
- Experience managing in a unionized work environment is a plus.
- Must possess strong communication, analytical and decision-making skills; and a strong commitment to company values.
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel); AS 400 experience a plus.
- Experience in forklift certification and inspection, hazmat certification, operating various warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, stock pickers, etc.).
- High comfort level working in a diverse environment.
- Open to direction and collaborative work style with a commitment to getting the job done.
Salary range for this position is $100,000-$125,000 based on location, experience, and geographic location.
