East Meets West - Director of Catering Operations

East Meets West Catering is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead our off‑premise catering team. This key leadership role oversees daily operations, logistics, staffing, and event execution to ensure every event runs seamlessly and exceeds client expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all off-premise catering operations and logistics to ensure flawless event execution.
  • Respond to new client inquiries and assign to the appropriate sales team member based on availability, client history, and venue familiarity.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to create and update custom menus tailored to client needs; assist in developing new menu ideas and ensuring proposal accuracy.
  • Communicate regularly with the culinary team to maintain accurate pricing and up‑to‑date menu documents.
  • Participate in site visits to assess logistics and culinary needs ahead of events.
  • Draft detailed staff instructions and review all logistics for accuracy before distribution.
  • Work closely with the staffing manager to assign team members, track scheduling needs, and support onboarding of new hires.
  • Attend weekly menu and planning meetings with the culinary, sales, beverage, and staffing teams.
  • Attend 2–3 events per week (more during peak season) to assist with setup, support staff and chefs onsite, and address last‑minute needs.
  • Support recruiting efforts by helping conduct interviews and attending hiring events.
  • Review weekly payroll reports and resolve discrepancies with appropriate team members.
  • Attend monthly industry meetings to network, stay current on trends, and build vendor relationships.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to identify and support new business opportunities.
  • Coordinate with commissary operations to ensure all materials are packed and ready prior to events.
  • Regularly check in with event managers and chefs to ensure smooth operations and provide performance feedback as needed.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of leadership experience in off‑premise catering or hospitality operations.
  • Proven success managing large‑scale events, logistics, and teams.
  • Strong financial management, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Flexible schedule – must be available nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
