Overview
Driver, Local Shuttle (Class CDL-A) at DSV - Global Transport and Logistics – South Bend, IN. Full-time position in Road Transport, US.
Summary:
The local shuttle driver will be responsible for executing local deliveries within a 50-mile radius with a 26 ft box truck, with the utmost care, professionalism, and accuracy.
- Local drivers start at $23.00 - $26.00 per hour, plus a $2.00 / hour shift differential for overnight shifts (based on experience).

- Operate 26’ box truck safely and in compliance with all traffic laws and the Department of Transportation.
- Accurately and efficiently load and unload cargo, often using a manual or powered pallet jack.
- Backs truck to customer dock.
- Maintain compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and safe and professional driving behavior.
- Communicate with customer representatives in a pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner.
- Communicate and coordinate with dispatchers.
- Comply with all DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing (subject to random and reasonable-suspicion testing).
- Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance it within the vehicle.
- Ensure any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.
- Performs other duties as required.
- CDL A License Required.
- A minimum of 2 years CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years; 3+ years preferred.
- Meet DOT qualification requirements, FMCSR 391.41.
- Experience in load securement, route planning, and navigating various road conditions.
- Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to handle sensitive cargo with care.
- Detail-oriented mindset.
- Must have a TWIC or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card within 90 days, if required.
- Sitting for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle; using hands to operate steering wheel, controls, GPS, and other equipment.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms, climb in and out of cab and trailer; may involve standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, or crouching during inspections, loading/unloading.
- Vision requirements for safe driving and reading documents.
- Frequently carry, push, or pull freight; lifts up to 50 pounds; reach above shoulder level as needed.
- Climb in and out of the truck 4 to 6 feet, 8 to 10 times daily with assistance of steps/handholds.
Exposure to diesel fumes and occasional harsh weather; time spent inside the cab and at customer sites, terminals, or on public roadways. Noise levels vary from quiet inside the cab to moderate or loud at delivery locations.
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour, plus a $2.00/hour shift differential for overnight shifts. Actual compensation determined by experience and location.
