Crossing Guard; IN, South Bend

SALARY: $20.00 per hour

Responsible for the safe crossing of elementary school age children at designated intersections or crossing points before school and after school or as directed by Crossing Guard Supervisor.

• Assists children in crossing streets at assigned locations.
• Drives to various locations as directed to control student crossings.
• Keeps a daily count of children crossing at corner/intersections; acts in a firm, but courteous and polite manner to children, as well as passing motorists.
• Reports any suspicious activity or disregard for crossing by motorists or passersby to Crossing Guard Supervisor.
• Coordinates work schedule with Crossing Guard Supervisor.
• Participates in required Police Department training.

• Performs other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as delegated.

• Minimal education required.

• Must be able to deal effectively with children and general public.
• Must provide own transportation.
• Ability to walk and raise a ten (10) pound sign and light are necessary to perform duties.

• Valid Driver’s License
