The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company is looking for an Inspector to join our Engineering Team!

Perform inspections of low to medium complexity risk exposures, including commercial, industrial, and non‑manufacturing locations for jurisdictional certification, loss prevention, risk assessment, OnSights, and claims investigations. May also be utilized for fee‑service engineering inspections.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of experience with boilers, UPV, industrial, mechanical and electrical equipment
• Engineering degree (BSME, BSEE or BSChE) may substitute for practical experience
• National Board Engineering Commission required
• Successful completion of Company required training

• Ability to crawl through 11″ x 15″ openings into confined spaces
• Ability to climb vertical ladders and several stories of stairs
• Ability to climb and function at heights of at least 30 feet, up to 8–10 stories
• Ability to perform bending, stretching and twisting motions
• Ability to withstand temperature variations up to 70 °F
• Ability to walk 3–5 miles
• Ability to stand for long periods; remain stationary 50% of the time
• Ability to lift own body weight while hanging or entering a confined space with safety equipment
• Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs
• Visual acuity of 20/20 (natural or corrected) and color identification
• Auditory acuity to hear equipment operation sounds
