Position Overview

Davey Resource Group, a Davey Company, is seeking motivated individuals interested in natural resources careers to join our team as Environmental Technicians. DRG provides a full range of ecological and horticultural services, including habitat restoration, invasive species management, lakeshore and bluff stabilization, stream bank and ravine restoration, prescribed burning, and traditional landscape maintenance for clients in both private and public sectors throughout the Midwest.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate as part of a team on invasive plant species control, native plant and seed installation, stream bank, lake shore, ravine, and bluff stabilization and restoration, prescribed burning, traditional landscape management, and other types of habitat restoration.
  • Work outdoors, often in inclement weather and rugged terrain, using heavy equipment such as spray rigs, backpack sprayers, augers, chain saws, and mowers.
  • Full time position with variable hours based on workload, weather conditions, and project needs.
Desired Qualifications
  • A degree in biology, botany, ecology, conservation, environmental science, forestry, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Indiana Certified Pesticide Applicator License (required).
  • Experience or interest in SWPPP inspections, urban forestry/forestry skills, landscaping, delineation & plant , and GIS and mapping is favorable.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, professional work ethic, attention to detail, and safety focus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Google.
Additional Information
  • Schedule
    :
    Start times generally around 7:00 AM, varying with season, weather, and project needs.
  • Typical Work Week
    :
    Monday–Friday, 10-hour days with Friday overtime possible.
  • Daily Routine
    :
    Report to the office, assist with loading equipment, travel to the worksite in a company vehicle, complete daily work goals, return to the office, and assist with unloading.
  • Pay
    :
    Starting at $18/hour, $27/hour overtime pay with opportunities for rate increases based on performance milestones such as earning your Commercial Pesticide Applicator License and additional certifications.
