Sign On Bonus $2,500

Reports to the Practice Manager. Provides professional nursing care in support of medical care as directed by the physician. Prepares patients for examinations, administers medications, assists physician in all aspects of care and completes laboratory duties as necessary. Communicates with patients and physicians routinely in a courteous manner. Performs other activities necessary to the operation of the clinic and office-based surgical procedures.

Professional Nursing Care Responsibilities
  • Perform general nursing care to patients and administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Check rooms for supplies, prepare equipment and assist physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
  • Maintain orderly and timely flow of patients; ensure preferences are given to patients in emergency situations.
  • Greet patients and prepare them for examination and taking basic history, obtaining vital signs, and collecting specimens (urine, etc.) as indicated.
  • Schedule patient testing, admissions, and referrals and provide patients pretesting instructions.
  • Maintain and review patient records and charts, post test results after review by physician, track test results, inform patient of test results and recommendations. Chart all phone calls, advice, and other contacts with patients.
  • Respond to and refer incoming phone calls (nursing home, pharmacy, patient, etc.). Call in prescriptions and/or orders to hospital at direction of or upon physician's order. Advise patient under doctor's supervision. Instruct patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Complete HMO referral forms; transmit information to insurance companies for preadmission screening or utilization review.
  • Meet with patients prior to surgical procedures to review options outlined by the physician and discuss pricing for cash-pay surgical procedures.
  • Assist in patient education as needed, i.e., post‑operative care instructions, etc.
  • Assist doctor in hospital or office-based surgery setting, rounds, procedures, surgery, as mutually agreed upon.
  • Assist doctor in billing for hospital services, turning in charges.
Additional Functions
  • Screen and refer pharmaceutical representatives.
  • Maintain file and follow‑up system for critical follow‑up situations (such as post‑operative swelling, bleeding, etc.).
  • Prepare and maintain trays or carts for special procedures, surgeries. Clean instruments as needed (surgical instruments, etc.). Ensure proper consent forms are completed and signed prior to procedures or surgeries.
  • Check emergency cart on a monthly basis for expired medication and ensure sufficient quantity of medication is available (as assigned).
  • Audit narcotics and report any discrepancies to supervisor (as assigned).
  • Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms, proper clean up of spills with special attention to body fluid precautions and contaminated waste per OSHA guidelines; follow universal precautions.
  • Inform proper personnel when medications and supplies need to be ordered.
  • Complete other job‑related duties and projects as assigned.
Organizational Responsibilities
  • Attend and participate in department meetings and maintain accountability for all information shared.
  • Complete mandatory education, annual competencies and department‑specific education within established time frames.
  • Complete annual employee health requirements within established time frames.
  • Maintain license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
  • Required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
  • Consistently utilize appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
