Operations Manager, Program / Project Manager
About the Company
Our partner is a fifth-generation, family-owned builder founded in 1919, trusted for work where precision, safety, and accountability define success. The company is positioned as a full-service design-build, construction, and development partner with deep strength in complex, occupied healthcare environments. The organization blends the responsiveness of a family business with the systems and capacity of a larger construction manager. With offices in Tinley Park, IL and Crown Point, IN, they support a growing Indiana footprint while maintaining repeat-client delivery standards across healthcare, education, multifamily, and commercial work.
RoleSummary
The Construction Superintendent is the field execution leader for our partner's Michiana projects — accountable for safe, on-time delivery, strong subcontractor coordination, and disciplined quality control in both ground up and occupied-space environments. This role owns daily jobsite rhythm, sequencing, and short-interval planning, ensuring crews, trades, and materials stay aligned to the plan. This position is full-time in the field across Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan, collaborating with the teams based in Illinois and Indiana.
The Superintendent reports into senior field/operations leadership and is expected to be calm, organized, and respect-driven — capable of protecting relationships in sensitive client environments while still driving performance.
The MissionOur partner exists to improve lives by elevating the built environment, with a clear niche in building complex healthcare spaces while facilities remain operational. The mission in the field is straightforward: run safe, clean, predictable jobsites that minimize disruption, uphold infection control and life safety requirements, and earn repeat-client trust through planning discipline, clear communication, and consistent follow-through.
Why this Opportunity? Our partner offers a rare combination of legacy stability and real growth opportunity in the Michiana market. Team members join a long-tenured, multi-generational organization operating under EOS, where “Respect Above All Else” and “One Team” are not slogans - they are the expectation on every jobsite. The work is technically demanding and meaningful, especially in occupied healthcare environments, supported by strong safety standards and credentialing rigor (including a structured, tech-enabled approach to site access and compliance).
Most importantly, this role provides real ownership - the Superintendent directly shapes jobsite outcomes, client confidence, and the expanding Indiana footprint as major regional work ramps.
90-Day Performance Objectives: Assessment and Integration
- Complete shadowing and onboarding; learn healthcare work, safety systems, and field tools.
- Establish consistent field cadence: daily huddles, weekly subcontractor meetings, and three-week look-ahead planning tied to the schedule.
- Get full visibility into active work and near-term starts; stabilize the highest-risk constraints first (access, phasing, trade readiness, materials).
- Reinforce documentation hygiene using Procore, Bluebeam, and Teams so daily logs, coordination, and as-builts are consistently reliable.
180-Day Performance Objectives: Leadership and Execution
- Become fully self-sustaining: independently run field operations and schedules across assigned projects in the Michiana region.
- Improve schedule reliability by enforcing sequencing discipline, confirming trade and material readiness, and reducing preventable rework.
- Strengthen safety and compliance execution with visible routines and consistent enforcement of credentialing, PPE, and hazard prevention.
- Build strong trade partner relationships while holding firm standards - clear expectations, fast issue escalation, and solutions-forward leadership.
365-Day Performance Objectives: Scale and Strategic Impact
- Deliver repeat-client outcomes through consistent schedule reliability, disciplined safety performance, and strong quality control across the portfolio.
- Serve as a dependable field leader as major regional work launches (Notre Dame, Beacon Health renovation, and South Bend multifamily), reducing leadership gaps and execution volatility.
- Demonstrate strong EOS-friendly operating rhythms in the field - clear accountability, predictable reporting, and proactive issue surfacing.
- Keep the company on track toward long-term growth goals by operating as a trusted, high-ownership superintendent in the Indiana expansion.
