Maintenance Planner/Scheduler with MRO Purchasing
OverviewThe Maintenance Planner/Scheduler with MRO Purchasing is responsible for ensuring that all maintenance activities are planned, scheduled, and executed efficiently while maintaining optimal inventory levels of critical spare parts and supplies. This role acts as the central coordinator between maintenance, operations, vendors, and procurement to minimize downtime, improve asset reliability, and control maintenance-related costs.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance Planning & Scheduling:
Develop detailed job plans for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities. - Maintenance Planning & Scheduling:
Create and manage weekly and long-term maintenance schedules in coordination with maintenance supervisors and operations. - Maintenance Planning & Scheduling:
Ensure labor, materials, tools, permits, and equipment are available before work begins. - Maintenance Planning & Scheduling:
Maintain accurate equipment histories, job plans, and asset data in the CMMS. - Maintenance Planning & Scheduling:
Prioritize work orders based on safety, production needs, and asset criticality. - Maintenance Planning & Scheduling:
Track schedule compliance and drive continuous improvement in planning processes. - Work Order & CMMS Management:
Review incoming work requests for clarity, priority, and scope. - Work Order & CMMS Management:
Convert approved requests into well-defined work orders with clear instructions. - Work Order & CMMS Management:
Monitor work order progress and closeout accuracy, ensuring proper documentation of labor, materials, and failure codes. - Work Order & CMMS Management:
Generate reports on backlog, KPIs, and maintenance performance metrics. - MRO Purchasing & Inventory Coordination:
Source, purchase, and expedite MRO parts, tools, and supplies required for maintenance activities. - MRO Purchasing & Inventory Coordination:
Maintain optimal inventory levels by monitoring usage, lead times, and critical spares. - MRO Purchasing & Inventory Coordination:
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and reliable delivery. - MRO Purchasing & Inventory Coordination:
Work with the storeroom team to improve inventory accuracy, cycle counts, and part standardization. - MRO Purchasing & Inventory Coordination:
Evaluate alternative suppliers or parts to reduce cost and improve reliability. - MRO Purchasing & Inventory Coordination:
Ensure compliance with procurement policies and documentation requirements. - Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with maintenance supervisors, technicians, engineering, and operations to align schedules and priorities. - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Communicate upcoming work, shutdown plans, and material shortages proactively. - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Support reliability initiatives by providing data, insights, and planning expertise.
- Experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or industrial maintenance.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, or industrial equipment.
- Experience with MRO procurement
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, and equipment specifications.
- Certification in Maintenance Planning/Scheduling (e.g., SMRP, PEMAC)
- Experience in manufacturing, utilities, or heavy industry
- Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles
- Negotiation and vendor management experience
- Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., MVP)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
