Description
BASIC FUNCTIONS
Performs diagnostic imaging studies in Radiography.
SCOPE
Performs radiologic procedures and casting/splinting at the technical level. Assists with department training.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepares patients for radiology procedures. Performs exams following established policies and procedures for patient care and safety.
- Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
- Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports any equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
- Maintains exam rooms by stocking necessary medical and radiology supplies.
- Performs Quality Assurance tests and calibrations, as needed.
- Follows principles of ALARA and practices good radiation safety.
- Applies casts and splints, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate clearly in person, on the phone, and through electronic communications to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff, and other customers.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to navigate and comprehend computer software systems in the clinical setting, including but not limited to an electronic health records system and PACS.
The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position.
STANDARD OF QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree and/or completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.
Experience: Minimum one-year experience as a radiologic technologist
Requirements: Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification; current Indiana State Radiologic Technologist license, CPR Certification
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
Standing 4-6 hours/day. Repeated walking, stooping, and bending. Requires the ability to move equipment and transfer patients. Occasional stress in working with tense patients.
Requires use of computer equipment. Work requires the ability to walk, sit, stand, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to radiation, communicable diseases and other conditions common to radiology setting.
