Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Stepdown Telemetry position with cardiac and stroke experience, working 12-hour day shifts.
Responsibilities- Work in a Stepdown unit within a short term acute care hospital
- Cardiac and neurological (stroke) patient populations with some renal cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
- Perform telemetry monitoring and manage cardiac drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Lasix
- Provide care for patients receiving all modes of oxygenation except ventilators
- Hemodialysis patients are present but HD is performed by an external team
- Charting is done using Cerner EMR
- Scheduled for three 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Every other weekend required
- No call requirements
- Floating required to similar or lower acuity units
- Duties include monitoring complex cardiac rhythms, administering cardiac drips, and providing care for stroke and renal patients
- Royal blue or white scrubs are required
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- No local candidates accepted within 50 miles
- Supportive hospital environment in a large acute care facility
- Active IN or compact RN license required prior to start
- ACLS, BCLS, and NIH certifications are required
- At least 1 year of RN experience is required; 2 years preferred
- Proficiency in reading, identifying, and responding to cardiac rhythms is required
- Must pass a telemetry rhythm identification quiz
- Previous experience with telemetry, cardiac/stroke care, and managing cardiac drips is required
- Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
- Applicants must live more than 50 miles from the facility
- Pending licenses accepted if active before start date
