Parking Services (SB-PARK-IUSBA)

A part-time parking citation writer (often titled Parking Enforcement Officer, Parking Technician, or Parking Services Agent) at the IU South Bend campus is responsible for patrolling campus parking lots, enforcing parking regulations, and issuing citations to vehicles in violation.

Department Specific Responsibilities
  • Patrols assigned campus lots, garages, and roadways on foot to identify violations (e.g., expired meters, improper parking, no permit).
  • Issues written or electronic parking citations/warnings to violators, including taking photographs of violations.
  • Acts as a representative of the university by providing directions, information regarding parking policies, and assistance to staff, faculty, students, and visitors.
  • Utilizes handheld ticketing devices, printers, and parking management software to record vehicle data.
  • Monitors and reports malfunctioning meters, damaged signage, or safety hazards.
  • Assists with traffic control and direct parking for campus events (e.g., sporting events, conferences).
  • Maintains accurate activity logs and submit reports to supervisors.
EDUCATION Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
Preferred WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Previous experience in security, parking enforcement, or customer service experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Required
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.
Skills Required
  • Basic computer skills (for handheld devices)
  • Strong interpersonal and strong communication skills for conflict resolution
  • Ability to work independently.
  • High attention to detail

Ability to move about the workspace for extended periods and work in varied weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, or snow). The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.

This positions requires the ability to sucessfully complete a background check.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

$15.00 per hour

Monday - Thursday 9:00 am - 3:00 pm with lunch break
