SALARY
: $50,000-$52,000 annually
Performs a variety of structural inspections related to all residential and commercial construction in the “built environment” throughout St. Joseph County.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Inspection Duties:
- Inspect residential, commercial, and manufacturing structures for compliance with State Building codes
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
- Resolve minor and moderately complex problems encountered in the day-to‑day inspection of housing.
- Explain Building Codes to architects, engineers, contractors and the public.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and maintain daily mileage and inspection logs.
- Coordinate with other inspectors to schedule group and/or final inspections
- Ability to take and pass an ICC Residential Inspector Certification test within 2 years of hire.
- On call evenings and weekends for special projects, e.g. Rebuilding Together, Habitat for Humanities, and for emergencies, e.g. natural disasters.
- Assist other inspectors when needed
Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as assigned.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONSSKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must hold a valid Indiana Driver’s License.

ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in office settings with moderate temperatures inside and outside in all types of weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office and loud in the field. The entire office is smoke free.
