The Payson Library Public Services Evening Supervisor oversees evening library operations, supervises evening student employees, and closes the library. Additionally, the evening supervisor provides excellent customer service, processes interlibrary loans, and obtains faculty‑requested electronic reserves. In alignment with the University’s mission and strategic plan, the person in this position works cooperatively with other departments in the library to support the learning, research, and teaching needs of the Pepperdine community.

Duties
  • Oversee evening library operations and closing of the library, including keeping accurate and complete circulation statistics.
  • Hire and supervise student circulation employees and help create their work schedule. Maintain a student employee emergency contact list, approve time cards, and communicate with the student employment office.
  • Assist Librarians with special projects in technical services, digital collections, and across other departments of the library as needed.
  • Advise students and faculty in the general use of subject databases, and recognize when research questions need to be forwarded to a librarian.
  • Communicate with University faculty and assist in the ordering, processing, and maintenance of the reserves and electronic reserves systems.
  • Oversee public copy machines and network printers.
  • Work cooperatively with other departments in the library to provide excellent customer service for students, faculty, staff, and other patrons.
  • Process interlibrary loan materials and requests received through Tipasa system.
  • Show initiative in addressing workflow problems and anticipating changes in patron needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including covering the circulation desk.
  • Uphold University mission and Libraries' core values through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications Required
  • Minimum two years of college.
  • An appreciation for and understanding of the University’s Christian mission, and a desire to contribute actively to that mission.
  • Excellent computer, organizational, and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • The ability to perform detailed work with frequent interruptions; the ability to work independently and as a team member; the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and move loaded book carts.
  • Needs to be flexible and adaptable.
  • Proficient in Google Suite.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Prior library experience.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $21.63 - $24.03 per hour

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
