Sr. Project Manager - Electrical Power

Position Summary

This position is responsible for managing and coordinating the installation and startup of a large volume of Caterpillar generator packages. This role will work closely with skilled MMC field technicians, project management peers, third‑party packagers, site contractors, and our customers by leading on‑site resources, addressing technical inquiries, and ensuring the seamless application of the Caterpillar and ancillary equipment.

• Plans, manages and coordinates all aspects of new projects from initial receipt of the purchase order through completion, including coordinating product delivery to customer acceptance, and ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
• Quality Assurance:
  Confirm that all delivered equipment meets site requirements and respond proactively to requests for additional information or changes.
• Logistics Coordination:
  Oversee delivery, offloading, and installation of equipment, supporting technicians and contractors to guarantee correct installation and adherence to customer timelines.
• Financial Management:
  Manage and monitor project expenses and schedules to maximize profitability while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Technical Expertise:
  Serve as the focal point for providing answers to technical and application questions about Caterpillar and related products, supporting engineering teams, contractors, and sales teams.
• Collaboration:
  
  Work with vendors to resolve technical inquiries and build strong relationships with suppliers to enhance project outcomes.
• Adaptability:
  Perform additional related duties as needed to support team success.

• No formal supervisory responsibilities.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 10+ years of experience or the equivalent in project management, purchasing, and/or customer service, preferably in the electric power industry and particularly with Caterpillar.
• Advanced computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), AutoCAD, database systems, and the ability to operate CAT PC and Main Frame programs.
• Thorough understanding of the installation and application of electrical and mechanical products.
• Requires ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple competing tasks and demands.

• Knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through a college degree in electrical engineering or the equivalent.
• Direct knowledge of Caterpillar generator set products.
• Experience with CxAlloy or other similar commissioning software platforms.

• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• The ability to understand and respond to questions related to submittals and specifications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams).

• Works under general supervision; employee acts independently to handle standard problems but usually reports on such problems. More unusual problems are referred to a supervisor/manager.
• Major responsibilities typically require a modest amount of creativity and latitude. Employee typically operates under general instructions with some established procedures and policies.
• If an error is made while in this position, it will require moderate effort to identify the error and can create a moderate impact on the company financially.
