Staff Accountant

Location: On-site (South Bend, Indiana)
Salary Range: $55,000 – $70,000 annually (based on experience)

A well-established organization is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close activities. This Staff Accountant role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, maintaining accurate financial records, and collaborating with a finance team. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, supporting reporting, and assisting with general ledger functions in a structured and supportive environment.

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

• Perform account reconciliations including bank, balance sheet, and expense accounts

• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed

• Assist with financial reporting and variance analysis

• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation

• Support audits by preparing schedules and responding to documentation requests

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

• 2–4+ years of accounting experience (public or industry)

• Working knowledge of general ledger accounting and reconciliations

• Experience with accounting or ERP systems preferred

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting software

• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills
