Skills and Abilities
* Prepare and review layout drawings for new and existing products.
* Identify customer needs and develop product solutions to meet all applicable requirements based on product design and function.
* Identify appropriate concepts and organize functional model development (including design, building, and testing) to verify concepts.
* Establish design concepts, BOM's, and Engineering assumptions for customer quotations.
* Create and maintain engineering documentation such as bills of material, DFMEA, specifications, NRE Costs and other types of engineering documentation.
* Produce Bills of Material for installations and assemblies.
* Assign and release part numbers and special parts for orders.
* Provide technical support to Customer Service, Customers, Sales and Manufacturing.
* Work with vendors to locate components and obtain quotes.
* Maintain project records.
* Must have knowledge of Solid Works and MS Office software.
* Knowledge of structural design and sheet metal forming a plus.
* Develop detailed drawing sets and specifications from design concept stage through production at the component and assembly level. Perform statistical analysis such as SPC, to verify part/process conformance/capabilities. Analyze dimensional stack-ups and make use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing techniques.
* Coordinate efforts with customer engineering to provide necessary technical support.
Education and Experience
* Associate's degree in mechanical design
* 2 years of experience in engineering
Physical Requirements
* Not climate controlled industrial manufacturing environment with temperatures that may exceed 85 degrees.
* Sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling or reaching overhead required.
* Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 49 pounds alone and more than 50 pounds with assistance.
* May require stationary position with intermediate walking throughout the shift on the plant floor.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus to watch video monitor.
