Job Summary

Mac Arthur Place is seeking skilled and motivated Line Cooks to join our culinary team. The Line Cooks will prepare, cook, and plate high-quality meals in line with hotel standards, ensuring an exceptional dining experience for our guests. This role requires strong culinary skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining cleanliness, safety, and the finest food quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes, ensuring proper taste, texture, presentation, portion control, and technique.
  • Collaborate with kitchen, restaurant, and banquet teams to deliver smooth, timely meal service, especially during peak hours.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to accommodate guest dietary requests, allergy concerns, and special food requirements with care and accuracy.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked workstation.
  • Follow all health, safety, quality, and sanitation protocols, including hygiene, food storage, handling, and temperature standards.
  • Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment, reporting malfunctions promptly.
  • Set up, maintain, and break down workstations, ensuring all ingredients, utensils, and equipment are ready before and after shifts.
  • Contribute to menu development by suggesting new dishes and staying knowledgeable about current menu items, recipes, and dietary restrictions.
  • Assist with inventory monitoring, ordering supplies, minimizing waste, controlling costs, and ensuring proper stock rotation.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding time and attendance, meal and rest breaks, uniform and grooming standards, and professional conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Culinary school training or equivalent experience is a plus. Minimum 1–2 years in a line cook, prep cook, or similar professional kitchen role.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of allergen management, food safety, and sanitation standards.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements Work Environment & Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work on your feet for extended periods; perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.; push, pull, or carry kitchen items as part of daily responsibilities.
  • Work with pots, pans, utensils, walk‑in freezers, sharp objects, and various kitchen equipment and food items.
  • Operate in fast‑paced indoor and outdoor kitchen and event environments, which may be warm, humid, or steamy.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and event‑driven shifts.
  • Must obtain a Food Handler’s Certification upon hire.
