The Clinical Coordinator/SCU Charge RN supervises the nursing staff in coordinating schedules, nursing assignments and patient care in the preoperative and postoperative phases of surgery from preadmission through discharge. This position is responsible for the daily work and workflow within the Surgical Care Unit (SCU).

Responsibilities
  • Daily staffing:
    Assign nursing staff according to caseload, types of surgery cases, and staffing needs in accordance with Title 22. Knows the strengths of each staff member and works to provide ongoing training and mentoring as needed to bring all staff to similar levels of expertise in both pre‑ and post‑operative care of surgery patients. Assigns and gives breaks and lunches, steps in to assist when needed in all areas when there are sick calls or emergencies, and creates and maintains the six‑week work and call schedule.
  • Maintains accurate daily and monthly checks for the department: assigns daily check‑offs including glucometer, crash cart, and others per unit policy; oversees maintenance, restocking, and update of crash cart, Malignant Hyperthermia carts, and Broselow carts.
  • Surgery daily flow:
    Leads and coordinates the inflow and outflow of patients; watches for delays of surgery, communicates to the team and family, and makes adjustments to room and nurse assignments as necessary. Keeps staff informed throughout the day and conducts a daily huddle to review the day and challenges.
  • Communicates with anesthesiologists and surgeons concerning timing, delays, and any changes to the daily免费观看 schedule. Writes the daily schedule on the tracking board and keeps it current.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with the Clinical Coordinator/Charge – OR RN for coordination of care for all patients in all phases of the surgical process and assists with coordination огранич of add‑on cases including inpatients.
  • Oversees the Nurse Navigation and报 Outpatient Infusion process and team: works with the director to review workflow, suggest and implement changes.
  • Provides direct oversight of the daily workflow of Unit/Nursing Assistant and all other ancillary resources coming to the unit; assigns duties as needed, oversees stocking of supplies, and coordinates with admitting staff, volunteers and others for smooth care coordination for all SCU patients.
  • Ensures a safe and productive work environment; assists the director in providing ongoing training, collecting performance improvement data, and working on quality metrics and performance improvement for SCU.
  • Provides feedback to the director, participates in hiring decisions and performance evaluations for SCU RN staff, Nurse Navigator, Perioperative Administrative Coordinator, and SCU Unit/Nursing Assistant, and provides leadership when the director is unavailable and acts as a role model to all staff.
Qualifications
  • Education
    :
    Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred.
  • Experience
    :
    At least 2 years pre‑op and/or P.A.C.U. experience; minimum 1 year leadership experience.
  • Licenses & Certificates
    :
    Current California RN license; ACLS; BLS; PALS.
  • Required Skills & Knowledge
    :
    Strong communication skills; ability to multi‑task with strong organization and coordination skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Compensation

Actual compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.

Minimum: USD $62.94

Maximum: USD $86.54
