The RoleAs a Medical Assistant at SSU’s Student Health Center, you’ll be a vital member of a close-knit, skilled, and collaborative medical team that values excellence, dependability, empathy, inclusion, teamwork, and well-being. You will provide both clinical and administrative support, with most time spent delivering direct patient care while also contributing to front-office functions such as patient reception and scheduling. You’ll have opportunities to engage in quality improvement initiatives and outreach efforts.
You’ll ensure patient-centered, evidence-based, safe, and efficient care in compliance with California Medical Board regulations, CSU policy, and SHC protocols.
Reporting to the Associate Director of the SHC and the Lead Physician, you will work under the supervision of licensed clinicians.
Responsibilities- Provide clinical and administrative support in a medical clinic setting.
- Deliver direct patient care and assist with front-office tasks (reception, scheduling).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and outreach efforts.
- Ensure care aligns with regulatory and institutional policies and protocols.
- Licensed Medical Assistant in the State of California.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Comfort with computers and electronic health records.
- Experience in higher education and a commitment to serving students from historically marginalized communities is highly preferred.
- Successful completion of a Livescan background check.

Salary and BenefitsFull-time, non-exempt, probationary position scheduled to work 11 months each year. Salary placement typically ranges from $46,800 to $50,400 annually, with salary processing under the 11/12 pay plan. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave, and 15 paid holidays per year. SSU participates in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).
