Base pay rangeJob Description And Duties
The mission of the California Labor Commissioner's Office is to ensure a just day's pay in every workplace in the State and to promote economic justice through robust enforcement of labor laws. By combating wage theft, protecting workers from retaliation, and educating the public, we put earned wages into workers' pockets and help level the playing field for law‑bearing employers. This office is also known as the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE).
We are looking for passionate and driven team members who seek to make a difference in the lives of workers and employers through education and enforcement of employment laws. This position is in our Wage Claims Adjudication Unit. To learn more about this program, visit:
Responsibilities- Proactively investigate wage claims to evaluate compliance with the law
- Interview workers and hold settlement conferences to resolve disputes prior to adjudication
- Gather relevant facts and apply theories of liability to assess violations
- Educate the public on labor laws and perform a wide variety of enforcement duties under the WCA program
- Must be reachable on an employment list, have transfer eligibility, or have reinstatement eligibility
- Must meet the minimum qualifications as state criteria and have relevant education or experience
- Must submit a complete application with job descriptions, employment dates, and hours worked per week
