The

Department

The Department of Applied Human and Environmental Sciences houses the Anthropology, Human Development, and Geography, Environment, and Planning undergraduate programs, and the Cultural Heritage and Resources Management MS program. The latter is one of the oldest in the country; revised in 2024, it is the only MS program in the state that focuses on cultural heritage and resources management. Students select a concentration in Natural Sciences and Technology or Social Sciences and Interpretation.

The Cultural Heritage and Resources Management MS program anticipates a number of part-time, temporary teaching opportunities. We are looking for individuals who can teach the following course as needed on a semester by semester basis: HDAA 592:
Evaluating the Built Environment (a 2-unit course for graduate students focusing on architectural history and historic preservation).

Required Qualifications

To be recommended for appointment, the candidate must have

A terminal degree in a discipline relevant to historic preservation and/or anthropology.

Preferred Qualifications

Significant experience in documenting historic and cultural resources/heritage and in writing National Register of Historic Places nominations.

Rank and Salary

Full-time is a 15-unit workload per semester. Actual salary is dependent upon the number of units assigned, educational preparation, and availability of funds subject to any CSU system faculty contract salary increases.

  • Salary commensurate with degree level and experience.
  • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month.
  • The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salary range indicated above is prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
