Job OverviewRWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified part‑time Ultrasound Technologist in Somerville, NJ. The role involves performing comprehensive ultrasound examinations, maintaining accurate documentation, ensuring proper workflow, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Graduate of an Accredited Ultrasound School.
- Minimum three years experience in a hospital setting performing the following preferred:
Abdomen, OB/GYN, Small Parts, Thyroid, Vascular, Pediatric, Biopsies, and Interventional Procedures. - Great working professionally and cooperatively with patients, physicians, and other hospital staff members.
- Possess a pleasant bedside manner.
- ARDMS Certification required.
- Must be BLS certified.
- Night Shift, 20 hours/week
- Part Time
- Screen requisitions to ensure proper exams are being ordered and proper prep is called to the Nurse taking care of the patient.
- Ensure proper workflow is being maintained.
- Maintain positive relationship between Radiologist and sonographers.
- Assist Lead Technologist and Supervisor in the day to day operation.
- Primary person ensuring proper steps are taken in the documentation process of ultrasound exams (tracking/dictation of exam in timely manner).
- Initiate service calls and documents.
- Train fellow sonographers and students with complex and/or new techniques.
- Age‑Specific Competency – Applies the knowledge of growth and development over the lifespan.
- Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on his or her assigned unit, i.e. Infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
- Assesses data reflective of each patient's status and interprets information needed in order to identify each patient's age requirements relative to his or her age specific health care needs.
- Abides by standards established by the hospital, state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Assists supervisor with review of co‑workers sonograms to ensure that they are following departmental policy. Provide a list of positives and negatives of the sonogram for educational purposes.
